Billie Joyce (Grey) Wildman

February 17, 1929 – October 28, 2024

Billie Joyce Wildman of Aurora, Colorado, passed away Monday morning, October 28, 2024, at the age of 95.

Billie was born to William Sumner Grey and Leta Madeline (Luckett) Grey on February 17, 1929, at home in Montgomery City, Missouri. Billie had two younger brothers, Albert Jim Grey and Gene William Grey. Her parents owned and operated Living Spring Camp, which consisted of a restaurant, filling station and nine cabins. She spent her childhood years in Mineola, Missouri, and graduated from Montgomery High School, Montgomery City, Missouri, on May 16, 1947.

On May 18, 1947, she was joined in marriage with the love of her life James William Wildman at the Mineola Baptist Church. They had three daughters, Cathy, Linda Joyce, and Mary Christine.

Billie, Jim, and the girls lived in Trenton, Missouri, from 1953-1967. In December of 1967 they moved to Arvada, Colorado.

In Colorado Billie worked for the Denver Department of Social Services, Jefferson County Welfare Office and Colorado State Department of Revenue. She retired on February 28, 1989.

After retirement Billie and Jim did mission work in Colorado and Arizona at different churches helping wherever there was a need. Billie and Jim received special recognition from the Arizona Southern Baptist Church Builders for their dedication and work serving the Lord. Jim passed away April 19, 2001.

Billie married Pete Doerksen on June 18, 2006. God blessed Billie with four and a half years with Pete, a loving, caring husband. Pete passed away January 5, 2011.

Billie always had a smile on her face and a positive attitude. She was loving, kind, gracious, and generous. She easily made life-long friends wherever she lived. Billie enjoyed quilting, knitting, and crocheting. She was involved in church activities, mission groups, and Bible studies. Family was very important to her.

Surviving family members include her three daughters Cathy Wildman of Aurora, CO; Linda Gray, husband Larry of Prescott, AZ, their son Larry Gray, Jr., wife Lisa, daughter Bella Gray and stepson Austin McGhee, their daughter Michelle Houston; Chris Marshall, husband Bob of San Juan Capistrano, CA, their daughters Sarah Rebeck, husband Chris and Stephanie Singer, husband Ben, and son Eli Singer; Stepson Larry Doerksen, wife Linda; 12 nieces, 11 nephews, and 6 cousins.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband Jim Wildman, husband Pete Doerksen, her parents William and Madeline Grey, brothers Albert Grey and Gene Grey.

A memorial service will be held on November 20, 2024, at 10:30 am at Colorado Community Church, 14000 E Jewell Avenue, Aurora, CO. The service will be available by a zoom link on church’s website.
